RAUVIPEX Pipe – Pre-Insulated Pipe for Heat Networks
RAUVIPEX is a polymer pre-insulated pipe system from REHAU, designed for district heating and cooling applications. It is used for buried heat network pipework, including:
- Connecting individual buildings, including heat pumps
- Transporting heat within larger district heating networks
RAUVIPEX combines thermal insulation with flexibility, supporting practical installation and long-term network performance.
What Is RAUVIPEX?
RAUVIPEX is a pre-insulated pipe system from REHAU, launched in 2024 as part of their heat network product range. The system consists of PE-Xa carrier pipes, PUR insulation and a protective outer jacket, providing mechanical protection, insulation performance, and moisture resistance.
It is available as UNO and DUO pipe, in sizes from d20 to d140, supporting a wide range of heat network layouts.
RAUVIPEX System Design
RAUVIPEX has been developed for heat network applications, with a focus on thermal insulation performance and installation flexibility.
Key system features include:
- SN8-rated outer jacket
- Fully bonded pipe construction
- PE-Xa carrier pipes manufactured by REHAU
- 20-35% reduced bending force (compared to similar PU-foamed pipes)
A welded longitudinal watertightness barrier provides protection against moisture ingress, even if the outer jacket is partially damaged.

RAUVIPEX pipe is made up of four main components:
Outer Jacket
The outer jacket features U-shaped wave crests with thick walls for durability, combined with V-shaped troughs to support flexibility during installation. The jacket is SN8 rated for buried installations.
Longitudinal Watertightness Barrier
A fully welded barrier protects the insulation layer from moisture ingress if the outer jacket is damaged.
PUR Insulation
Fine-pored PUR foam provides thermal insulation while maintaining bending elasticity, supporting easier handling on site.
PE-Xa Carrier Pipes
PE-Xa carrier pipes are used for the transport of hot and cold water and are designed for long-term use in heat network systems.
Installation and Handling
The RAUVIPEX pipe structure is designed to reduce bending forces by 20–35% compared with similar PU-foamed pre-insulated pipes.
This supports:
- Easier handling during installation
- Reduced bending forces
- Faster installation times
- More compact pipe coiling
RAUVIPEX for District Heating Networks
RAUVIPEX is specified for district heating and cooling networks where the following are required:
- Thermal insulation performance
- Practical handling and installation on site
- Mechanical protection in buried applications
- Long-term system protection
RAUVIPEX is a pre-insulated pipe system for district heating and cooling networks. It combines PE-Xa carrier pipes, PUR insulation and a robust outer jacket to support installation, transport and long-term network performance.
